Fabrication
Serimax has a 20-year track record of fabricating high-quality pipeline components for major oil and gas operators in the UK and overseas.
These include spoolpieces of virtually any shape or size, and multi-joints as well as installation aids such as collars, flanges and other fitting structures for both onshore and offshore projects.
Spoolpieces
We classify spoolpieces as the short sections that connect the ends of pipelines to wellheads, platform risers or similar structures. Bends, end flanges and miscellaneous steel structures are generally required to install or protect the spoolpieces after installation. Serimax has an outstanding track record in the procurement of these items, qualifications of procedures and welders, fabrication, coating, inspection, pressure testing and load out.
A recent example of our fabrication capabilities is our work for on the Thunderhorse and Atlantis projects at the Serimax site in Fourchon, Louisiana. We were originally contacted in 2005 to fabricate 13 subsea jumpers. The standard contract soon evolved into a significant role and Serimax now provides a range of services, including pipe and chain-tensioner fabrication and the deepest installation of jumpers in the Gulf of Mexico. Despite short and fluid production schedules, the quality of workmanship and metrology remains very precise.
Multi-joints
Serimax uses a highly-efficient production line method to produce multi-joints. We also supply qualification of the welding procedures and personnel as an integrated package.
The fabrication of multi-joints of pipe involves joining together short lengths of pipe (normally 12 metres long) to form double-joints (24 metres long), quad-joints (48 metres long) or even hex-joints (72 metres long). These often require collars which enable the pipe to be laid by the J-Lay method whereby the pipe is held in a near-vertical position on board the lay vessel.
For the Simian Sapphire project we designed, manufactured, transported and set up a modular quad-joint fabrication complex in Damietta Port, Egypt under a full-build contract, from pipe delivery all the way through to as-built documentation.
