Serimax: offshore welding and marine welders

Serimax

Landlines

In a typical landlines project, welding usually accounts for less than 1% of the overall as-installed costs. Yet the quality of welding has a critical influence on the owner’s ability to exploit the pipe, and the ongoing cost of maintaining it.

Comprehensive service fuels growth

With our revenue set to account for nearly 15% of Serimax turnover in 2007, compared to 8% in 2006, the Landlines business is going from strength to strength. This is a reflection of our increasing focus on bespoke, end-to-end services across training and supply of personnel, equipment, design and fabrication.

As we perfect the production-efficiency of our automatic dual torch welding process, our competitive advantage will increase. At the same time we are investigating and testing several other options in order to enhance the efficiency of current processes. In turn, this will see automatic welding start to surpass growth of manual welding techniques.

Field proven dual head boosts our advantage

Serimax has an innovative dual torch system for automated landline welding. Using two spreads of four shacks we can easily deliver an average of 160 welds per day, giving us a distinct advantage over single-spread welding which typically completes an average of 120 joints per day using up to 11 shacks.

The client benefits go beyond just the speed at which we complete welds. Dual torch also requires fewer welding stations, fewer people and less accommodation – ensuring less environmental impact on landline sites, and lower costs. And the mechanised process delivers much greater weld integrity on the most difficult pipeline sections.

Tie-ins, special points and the welding of short sections are all improved by the use of dedicated, lighter and self-contained bug-and-band system based on Flux Core Arc Welding process.

Our equipment has an outstanding reliability record. This is supported by a comprehensive service from our highly qualified technicians and an extensive inventory of spare parts.
